The house Yvon Mau has been around since 1897. The initiator was Aristide Mau, but it is his son Yvon, who went on his v?locip?de (old-fashioned bicycle) along the winemakers in the Bordeaux region to select wines that he could sell. He made good selections and thus expanded his portfolio. The house Yvon Mau thus became a well-known and renowned wine merchant. Not only did the company select Bordeaux wines, but in the course of time wines from the regions for the Vins de Pays were added.

At the end of the 19th century, Rouget was classified among the top five estates of the Pomerol appellation. Consequently in 1992, the Labruyere Family fell in love with Chateau Rouget. Convinced by the exceptional quality and potential of its terroir, they revamped the estate and successfully brought it to the forefront of the Pomerol appellation. The estate is now considered by critics and amateurs as the winery which has made the most consistent progress across the appellation, vintage after vintage.
